Fashion is Frickle

By Tinopona KatsandeHEIDI Klum says, "in fashion you're in today and out tomorrow" (Project Runway), I beg to differ. Fashion is reoccurring and we can't deny that. People, models ,yes! They are in today, out tomorrow because they are dispensable. Its like J-Lo, six years ago, Jenny from the Block was phenomenal, who would have thought that Miss 'thang' Beyonce would Sasha in a whole new era less than two years latter. (I'm sooooooo digging 'Sasha' Beyonce I feel you girl. Folks don't get it , If you don't separate you will perpetrate , hence Tinopona and Joyce Huni studio 263).

But fashion is just recycled, therefore it's timeless, therefore Iearn to carry, adapt and adopt what you have in your wardrobe. Global warming is hitting hard and Zimbabwe is not being spared, Confirm? Vanhu woye (Zim People) Harare is unusually cold and windy this time of year. Shuwa tingapfeke mascuff nemajasi that we wore last winter, it's not even HIFA yet but that's my point exactly.

Instead of fussing about buying a new cardigan ($25 later) to throw over your summer dress that you had hoped would wear through out this season's hot summer trends, go to your winter clothes from 2009 and pull out that old reliable cotton sweater or that light fleece button up cardigan, swap your lace up or flower toe sandals for colorful or metallic pumps and go heavy on your accessories. Check out the flee markets, you can buy a bunch of trendy ethnic beads or thick colored bangles for less than $10 and you will look like you bought a whole new outfit..

STOP the fashion fiasco madness and set your own trends. Sure we want to know and have the latest fad in fashion, colors and fittings but, be smart and pocket friendly about it. Keep your old and accent it with the new accessories because believe me, in three to four seasons you will be right back where you started just in another year.

Fashion is freckle, be careful not to be lost and broke in it.
